About the Artist
Maria Alejandra Icaza Paredes is a Panamanian architect, multidisciplinary designer, and artist based in Miami, Florida. Her work is driven by a fascination with the built environment and the objects that shape human behavior, blending architecture’s balance of utility, durability, and beauty with a deep attention to materials and making.
She designs interiors, furniture, products, and art installations for residential and hospitality spaces, and is currently a multidisciplinary designer at Luis Pons Design Lab. She is the founder of MAIPdesigns, a design and art studio, and holds an interior design credential from Florence Design Academy, a Bachelor of Architecture from ISTHMUS (Panama), and dual M.A. degrees in Furniture and Industrial Design from SCAD.
