About the Artist
Yochi Yakir-Avin is a multidisciplinary visual artist and art instructor based in South Florida. Born in Poland and raised in Israel, she earned her BFA from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan.
Working at the intersection of material, memory, and identity, Yakir-Avin's practice spans painting, drawing, fiber arts, photography, installation, and performance. She creates poetic compositions using worn photographs, sheer fabrics, reflective surfaces, and thread—often juxtaposed with industrial materials like aluminum—to explore how personal and collective histories are layered, preserved, and reshaped over time.
Yakir-Avin received the 2024 Broward Innovation Grant for "Painting Life in Pictures," an interdisciplinary collaboration exploring visual art and theater, which was featured on NBC6 Live. She has exhibited widely across the United States, including the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art (Wisconsin), Salmagundi Art Club (New York), and locally at Coral Springs Museum of Art, Arts Warehouse (Delray Beach), MIFA Gallery (Miami), and JCC Museum (Boca Raton). yochiyakiravin.com
