Terre Rybovich
Third-generation South Florida native, Terre is a daughter of Tommie Rybovich, noted sport fishing boat designer and builder. Like her father, Terre works at the edge of her expertise, ever exploring.
Terre creates large charcoal and pastel drawings—detailed, ethereal images—working with her hands and body. Mostly figurative work, it sometimes includes birds drawn from her photos.
Terre has a Bachelors in Politics and Economics from New York University, and a Masters in Rural Sociology from Wisconsin-Madison. Her first career, funding grassroots community and agricultural development, instilled daring she now channels into drawing. Her work has been exhibited throughout Florida and is in a number of private collections. It was juried into the Viewing Program of the Drawing Center in New York City in 2004.
Rybovich is also an artist advocate. In 2004, she and two other artists held five “artist listening sessions” across Palm Beach County. Questionnaires were completed by all in attendance. The results led to the formation of a county artists’ organization. In 2016 she worked with the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Association to initiate a series of annual studio tours in Northwood, complete with trolley service. Two to three hundred visitors came to each of the events. In 2022, she joined the Executive Board of collaboARTive, a non-profit providing affordable studios to artists in Miami, FL.
