Noche de Arte: O. Gustavo Plascencia (Artist-in-Residence)

Celebrating PRIDE Month with art and community

Join us for Noche de Arte, collaboARTive’s free weekly art experience at Gallery 100 inside InterContinental Miami—where hotel guests, locals, and visitors come together for a relaxed night of art, conversation, and creative play.

Each Monday, you’ll meet a featured artist, enjoy light bites provided by InterContinental Miami, and take part in a hands-on collage activity—no experience needed, just show up and make something.

JUNE 2026 ARTIST IN RESIDENCE: O. GUSTAVO PLASCENCIA

A key part of the experience: the Artist-in-Residence creates live during the event, breaking down the borders between artist and viewer and inviting everyone into the process in real time.

Celebrating PRIDE Month in June

PRIDE Month is a time to celebrate LGBTQ+ identity, creativity, and community—and to reaffirm that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and welcome. At collaboARTive, that aligns with what Noche de Arte is all about: bringing people together through art, conversation, and shared creative play.

This month at Noche de Arte, we’re honoring PRIDE by uplifting LGBTQ+ artists and allies, making space for self-expression, and celebrating the joy that comes from showing up as your full self. Join us in June as we create, connect, and keep building a community where everyone belongs.

About the Artist

O. Gustavo Plascencia is a visual artist and educator whose creative work documents local ecosystems and practices walking methodologies to create a record of his surroundings. He explores the intersection of photography, nature, and memory, presenting landscapes as silent witnesses to personal and collective histories. His practice also focuses on the duality between the personal and the communal, and the self and society. Plascencia attended the Escuela de Artes Plásticas “Ruben Herrera” in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, before immigrating to the USA. He has held several academic appointments at the University of North Texas, Memphis College of Art, and Lycoming College before being appointed Dean of Visual Arts at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, FL.
