Picardo, April 2024

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Picardo is a multidisciplinary artist who graduated in 1995 as a Visual Artist and Illustrator from UNIVERSIDAD AUTONOMA DE SANTO DOMINGO in the Dominican Republic. Recognized as a prominent Afro-Caribbean artist in his previous residence in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Picardo now calls Miami home.

While in Michigan, the artist has exhibited in regional art competitions, at ArtPrize and the Muskegon Art Museum. His work has been exhibited in many collaborative exhibitions in New York City, Art Basel Miami 2022 under Redwood Group, and Miami Art Week 2023. Internationally, he has shown as a collective art exhibition in Torino and Rome, Italy in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Now making his mark in Miami, Picardo's work can be seen in twenty-one murals across Michigan in locations such as the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, METRO Hospital, and in commercial venues throughout downtown Grand Rapids. Most recently, his work has been included in collective exhibitions through White's Gallery, Miami FL.

Picardo’s art is a fusion of innovation, vibrant colors, and original narratives, inviting viewers to explore a unique perspective on the world. As a contemporary artist hailing from the Caribbean and based in Miami, FL, my work embodies the rich tapestry of cultures and experiences that have shaped my identity. Each piece is a testament to the power of creativity to transcend boundaries and connect people across diverse backgrounds. Through bold compositions and striking imagery, I strive to ignite curiosity, spark conversations, and evoke emotions. Join me on a journey into a world where imagination knows no bounds and every brushstroke tells a story.
